As a Morgan State University student, Kevin Antoine was a manager at the largest East Coast facility of a national truck rental company. This experience inspired to start his own trucking company after graduating. KWJW Distributors soon needed to rent more trucks and pay drivers to fulfill the contracts it was quickly securing, which was funded by BCL in June 2019. As the company continued to thrive, it obtained a second loan from BCL in 2020 to purchase a truck. According to Mr. Antoine, “I didn’t know how I was going to get money to start my business, but Baltimore Community Lending believed in me. Without them, I don’t know where I would be today.” The business now owns 3 trucks, contracts with other trucking companies as an owner-operator, and is continually hiring more drivers and employees.
