Stephanie Carter Bagley is a distinguished professional that started with a remarkable
career spanning over 25 years in corporate America. Armed with an MBA, she initially
ventured into management consulting, where she made significant contributions at
PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, even during the transition to RGP. In pursuit of a
more balanced lifestyle as a parent, Stephanie transitioned in-house, taking on various
finance and operations roles in large corporations.
Stephanie’s approach was unique; she started her consulting venture as a
subcontractor, leveraging existing relationships to secure private and government sector
contracts. Her dedication to delivering private sector best practices to public sector
clients quickly garnered attention and trust.
As she navigated this path, Stephanie discovered opportunities for minority and
woman-owned business enterprise certifications, obtaining her first certification in 2018
from the Maryland Department of Transportation. With a growing track record in the
government sector, she began targeting larger contracts and expanding her team.
Stephanie’s motivation comes from her desire to share her non-traditional journey and
give back to the community. She is passionate about creating opportunities for others
and using her story to inspire and support those facing similar challenges.
Stephanie’s relationship with Baltimore Community Lending (BCL) began in 2019 when
she met Don Cutwright at a small business event. Don’s support and guidance enabled
her to secure a line of credit, a loan, and other essential financial resources. In 2023, as
a member of the Black Own Women’s Collective, Stephanie attended a capital
conference in New York, where she was reminded of the importance of working with
local community banks. She reconnected with Don, who swiftly facilitated the approval
process for her financial package, ultimately providing the capital she needed to scale
her business.
This partnership with BCL has been instrumental in supporting Stephanie’s ambitious
plans for SCB Management Solutions, Inc. Her goal is to continue doubling revenue year
after year, with a focus on building a strong leadership team, back-office infrastructure,
and enhancing employee engagement.
Stephanie anticipates a long-term relationship with BCL and envisions collaborating
with other small management consulting businesses to collectively empower the small
business community. Her dedication to giving back, both professionally and personally,
has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition from the Baltimore Business
Journal as “A Woman of Excellence in 2023” and participation in programs like SBA Thrive, Capital One
Supplier Diversity cohort, and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses.
Stephanie Bagley’s journey is marked by resilience, entrepreneurship, and a commitment
to making a difference in her community. With new awards and opportunities on the
horizon, her story is one of continued growth and impact.
